The Silent Treatment
Your closest friend of 15 years has started pulling away. Texts go unanswered for days. They bailed on your birthday dinner with a last-minute excuse. When you do see them, the conversation stays surface-level. You suspect they're going through something — maybe depression, maybe marital problems — but they deflect every attempt to go deeper. Last week you sent a heartfelt message saying you're there for them. They replied 'Thanks, I'm fine.' You're hurt, worried, and increasingly frustrated. Part of you wants to push harder. Part of you wants to give them space. Part of you wonders if the friendship has simply run its course.
