The wheel needs WebGL, which this browser has turned off.

The wheel is turning. Press the wall in or draw it out with your finger, and lift the rim to pull it taller. The clay stays the same, so the wall thins as it rises.
This pot is fired. Fired clay can't be reshaped. Start a new one from the Fire step.

On the wheel: ↑ ↓ pick a height, ← → press in or draw out, Shift + ↑ ↓ raise or lower the rim.
Left to stiffen to leather-hard, the clay holds a clean cut. Draw on the wall to carve it, or trail slip on in a raised line. Glaze pools in a cut and thins over a ridge, so both show more once it is fired.
This pot is fired. Its marks are set under the glaze.

Sign the foot
Write your name or a mark here. Potters scratch it into the foot, where glaze never goes.
Up to three letters, pressed into a seal beside it.
On the wheel: ← → turn the pot.
Raw glaze is chalky and pale. What colour it turns depends on the kiln, so it looks nothing like itself until it is fired.
This pot is fired. Its glaze is glass now.
Glaze
.
The foot always stays bare, or the glaze would melt it onto the kiln shelf.
The kiln climbs for hours to the temperature where glaze melts into glass, then cools for longer. Clay shrinks as it fires, and nothing about the pot can change after.
