Lifeline

A one-page Lifeline — a way to map a stretch of your life as a single timeline instead of a flat list of things that happened. Told as a list, a life loses its shape; drawn as a lifeline, the pattern shows. This sheet gives you one horizontal line running left to right from earlier to now. Above the line you pin the high points — the moments that lifted you, the wins, the turns that opened something up. Below it you pin the low points — the losses, the setbacks, the seasons that took something out of you. You name the stretch you're looking back on in a single line (a decade, a chapter, since a particular event), then list up to four peaks and up to four valleys, and they plot along the line as cards on pins above and below. Two things make the exercise worth doing. Naming the highs and lows forces you to actually account for the run rather than remember only the last thing that happened. And seeing them together reveals the shape — where the dips clustered, what tended to follow a peak, how much of the story was outside your hands — which is usually more instructive than any single moment. Use it for a year-end review, a birthday or milestone reflection, therapy or journaling prep, or making sense of a chapter that just closed. Print it blank to plot your line by hand.

Best for
Mapping a stretch of life as one timeline — high points pinned above the line, low points below — so the shape of the whole run comes into view, not just the last thing that happened.
