Venn Diagram

A one-page Venn Diagram — two overlapping circles for comparing any two things and, more usefully, finding what they share. Set two things side by side — two job offers, two cities, two people's needs, two ideas, this year against last — and it's easy to list how each stands on its own. The overlap is the part that's hard to hold in your head and usually the most valuable: the common ground, the points of agreement, the shared requirements you can build on. This sheet gives you a clean two-circle Venn with three regions to fill. You name each circle (the left thing and the right thing), list up to three lines of what belongs to each one alone, then fill the lens in the middle with everything the two have in common. Two things make it worth drawing rather than just listing. Forcing yourself to place each point in a region — left only, right only, or shared — makes you decide what's actually distinctive versus what only feels that way. And seeing the overlap fill in reframes the comparison: instead of two rival columns, you get a shared core plus two sets of trade-offs, which is usually a calmer, clearer basis for a decision or a conversation. Use it for weighing two options, comparing two roles or tools, finding common ground in a disagreement, teaching compare-and-contrast, or mapping where two goals reinforce each other. Print it blank to fill the circles by hand.
