Cost–Benefit Analysis

A one-page cost–benefit ledger that lays the price of a decision next to its payoff. List the costs on one side and the benefits on the other, one factor per line, with a number after any line you can put a figure on — money, hours, or points. The sheet tallies each side, works out the net, draws a balance bar showing which way it tips, and states the verdict. Lines without a number still list as qualitative factors to weigh by hand. Name the decision, fill both columns, and read the balance. Print it blank to work it out by hand — the maths is done for you when you add the numbers.
