Project Charter

A one-page project charter — the single sheet a team agrees on before any work starts, so everyone shares the same picture of what this project is and isn't. It captures the project name, a metadata row (sponsor, project lead, start, and target date), the Purpose & Objective (why it's worth doing), what's In Scope and — just as important — explicitly Out of Scope, the Milestones that give the plan a spine, and the Success Metrics that say how you'll know it worked. Naming the out-of-scope items up front is what prevents scope creep later. Fill it collaboratively at kickoff, get sign-off, and post it where the team can see it.
