The Commemorative Stamp Sheet

A sheet of six commemorative stamps, printed in a perforated grid, for the things that deserved a national holiday and did not get one. Each stamp takes a title, the citation it was awarded for, and a denomination — not a score, but what the thing actually cost you: 6 MONTHS, 11 DRAFTS, 40 NOS. The selvage margin above the sheet carries the series name (what this year should be called) and the first day of issue; below it, a sheet inscription for why the year was worth printing at all, and a line for the issuing authority to sign. Every stamp keeps one blank line — OBSERVED ON — because a commemoration you never mark is just a note. Countries print stamps for what they refuse to forget. This one prints in an edition of one.

Commemorating a year's quiet, unwitnessed things instead of listing achievements.
