What should you work on next?

A 12-question diagnostic across eight areas of life. It shows which one is pulling on you most right now and gives you one step for today, with a tool and a book to go further.

Three minutes, one question at a time

Answer for how the last two weeks actually went. There are no right answers, and nobody else sees what you pick.

  1. Answer twelve questions

One per screen, four answers each. Press 1 to 4 and it moves on by itself; go back at any time to change one.

  2. See your eight areas

The result draws each area as a petal: the longer it is, the more that area is pulling on you. The longest is the suggested place to start.

  3. Take one step, then compare

You get one small action for today, a tool and a book. Retake it in a few weeks and the chart shows your last result as an outline.

The eight areas, and where each one points

Four areas get two questions and four get one. Whichever comes out on top, the result links the same tool and book listed here.

What the result is, and what it is not

How the score is worked out

Each answer is worth 1 to 4, from no strain to a lot. An area's pressure is how far its answers sit above the lowest possible, so an area with one question and an area with two land on the same 0 to 10 scale.

pressure = (sum − n) ÷ 3n × 10

When it is a close call

If two areas tie, the quiz says so and asks which feels more pressing, rather than picking one for you. If every area is low, it says nothing stands out and lets you choose.

A prompt, not a test

This is a self-reflection exercise, not a validated psychological assessment. Twelve questions cannot measure a life. The scores only compare your own areas with each other, never you with anyone else.

Trust yourself over the chart

If the top area does not ring true, tap the one that does and the quiz shows its step instead. If your answers about mood or energy worry you, talk to a doctor or someone you trust.

Use it from the keyboard

Every answer has a number, and the quiz moves on once you pick one.

Questions

  • Is the Personal Growth Quiz free?

Yes. The quiz, the result and both exports are free, and you do not need an account.

  • Where are my answers saved?

In this browser's local storage, after every answer, so a reload or a closed tab picks up where you left off. If you are signed in, they are also saved to your HourLife account, so they open on your other devices, and you can delete them there in Settings. Signed out, nothing is sent to HourLife or anywhere else. Clearing your browser data removes your answers and past results, so copy the result or download its image to keep a record.

  • How is my result worked out?

Each answer is worth 1 to 4, from no strain to a lot. An area's pressure is how far its answers sit above the lowest possible score, (sum minus n) divided by 3n, so an area with one question and an area with two share the same 0 to 10 scale. The area with the highest pressure is the suggested place to start.

  • What if two areas tie, or nothing stands out?

The quiz says so instead of choosing for you. On a tie it names the tied areas and asks which feels more pressing. If every area scores low, it says nothing stands out and lets you pick. You can tap any area in the result to see its step instead.

  • Is this a validated psychological test?

No. It is a self-reflection prompt with twelve questions, not a clinical or validated assessment. The scores only compare your own areas with each other, never you with other people. If your answers about mood or energy worry you, talk to a doctor or someone you trust.

  • Can I retake it and compare?

Yes. Retake it whenever you like, and the last twelve results stay in this browser. The result chart draws your previous result as a dashed outline, and you can pick any earlier result to compare against or clear them all.

  • Can I use it from the keyboard or a phone?

Yes. Press 1 to 4 to answer and the quiz moves on, Enter or the right arrow for the next question and the left arrow to go back. On a phone, tap an answer; the layout fits a narrow screen.
