  2. Quote Image Generator

Turn a quote into an image

Type the words, pick a look and a size, and download a PNG for a post, a story, a slide or a link preview. The type sizes itself to fit.

  • 12 looks
  • 5 exact sizes
  • Free, no account

From words to a PNG

  1. Write it

Paste the quote, then the author and, if you like, the book or talk it came from. Wrap a word in *stars* to set it in the accent colour. A new line in the box starts a new line on the card.

  2. Pick a look

Choose one of twelve looks and one of five sizes. The type grows or shrinks to fill the card and evens out the line lengths. Swap the typeface, centre it, or add your handle at the foot.

  3. Take it with you

Download a PNG at the exact pixel size, or copy the image straight into a message where your browser allows it. Your last card is still there when you come back.

Five sizes, to the pixel

Every card is drawn at full size, not scaled up from the preview.

  • Square 1080 × 1080 px

Feed posts, and anywhere a square crops cleanly.

  • Portrait 1080 × 1350 px

Taller feed posts that take more of the screen.

  • Story 1080 × 1920 px

Stories and status. The top and bottom stay clear for the app's own buttons.

  • Wide 1920 × 1080 px

Slides, video thumbnails and desktop wallpapers.

  • Link card 1200 × 630 px

The preview image a link shows when it is shared.

Questions

  • Is the Quote Image Generator free?

Yes. Every look, size and typeface is free, the PNG has no watermark beyond the small HourLife mark you can switch off, and you do not need an account.

  • Is my quote uploaded anywhere?

The image is not. The card is drawn on a canvas in your browser and the PNG is made there too. Your last card's settings and text are kept in this browser's local storage so they are still there when you come back. If you are signed in, they are also saved to your HourLife account, so they open on your other devices, and you can delete them there in Settings. Clearing your browser data removes the browser's copy.

  • What sizes can I export?

Square 1080 × 1080, portrait 1080 × 1350, story 1080 × 1920, wide 1920 × 1080 and link card 1200 × 630 pixels. The image is drawn at that size, not scaled up from the preview. Story cards keep the top and bottom clear of text, where apps put their own buttons.

  • How do I highlight a word?

Wrap it in stars, like *this*. The word is set in the look's accent colour, in italic, underlined or under a marker stroke, depending on the look. A new line in the quote box starts a new line on the card.

  • Why doesn't Copy image work, and where is Share?

Copy image needs a browser that can put images on the clipboard; recent Chrome, Edge and Safari can, and the studio says so when yours cannot. Share appears only where the browser can share files, which is mostly phones. Download PNG works everywhere.

  • Can I use quotes from other people?

Short quotations with the author named are common practice, but you are responsible for how you use someone else's words. Put the author's name in the Author field and, if you like, the book in Source so the card credits them.

Keep the line you underlined

The card is drawn in this browser. Nothing you type is uploaded.

Keep this going in the app.
