Tap an activity to start a timer, fill in time you forgot, and see your week as seven 24-hour ribbons with the gaps left hatched.
Tap Work when you sit down, Meal when you eat. Meal runs alongside Work; Exercise would stop it. Pause holds the clock still.
At the end of the day, tap + ("Log past activity") for anything you did not time, or tap a "+ log" between entries in the Log timeline.
Look at "THIS WEEK" at the top. Tap a day to open its log, and open … → "Insights" once a few days have filled in.
Hours opens on the week. Each day is a strip from midnight to midnight with every session drawn at the time it ran. Time between sessions that nothing covers is hatched, so the hours you never logged stand out. This is a sample week; step back and forth, and tap a day to open its log.

Tapping a tile starts it. Most activities stop whatever else is running when they start, so switching is a single tap. A few are allowed to run alongside, because you can eat or drive while doing something else. Here is one afternoon.
Sample · an afternoon, 13:00 to 18:30
Rename them, recolour them, add your own and archive the rest under … → “Activities”. “Allow concurrent” is the switch that lets an activity run alongside.

Not everything gets timed. The Log tab shows one day as a timeline, with a “+ log” in each gap, and + at the top adds anything afterwards. “Jump to Day” reaches back to any day you logged.
Tap the date above the timeline. A dot marks every day with an entry; days ahead cannot be picked.

“Show quick add in gaps”, in Hours settings, turns the “+ log” buttons off.
Two settings in Hours handle the two ways a timer goes wrong: left running, or started by mistake. Both are off until you choose a limit.
Global auto-stop timer · 120 minutes
The entry ends at the moment it reached the limit, not when you next opened the app. The dashed run is what it would have logged without one: ten and a half hours of Work overnight.
“Off”, or 5 to 720 minutes in fives. One activity can carry its own limit in its editor.
Auto-drop short activities · less than 1 minute
The line marks the limit. Choose less than 5, 10, 15 or 30 seconds, or 1, 3 or 5 minutes; “Never” is the default.
“Insights”, in the … menu, reads the last 30 days. These are its cards for the sample above, a person who tracks their sleep too.
Sample · September 21 to October 20
You tracked 506h 5m over the last 30 days.
13 active days in the last 14.
Daily total — last 14 days
Averaging 17h 7m on the days you tracked.
Today is still running, so its bar is short. Saturday the 17th is the gap.
Allocation — last 30 days
Sleep takes the biggest share — 43% of your tracked time.
Before anything is tracked, Insights says “Nothing tracked yet”.
A widget that runs the timer from the Home Screen, a card on Today, and the places your hours turn up elsewhere in the app.
While something runs, it shows a live clock with pause and stop. Otherwise it shows today’s total and starts an activity in one tap.
Small and Lock Screen sizes too. With more than one timer going, the medium widget adds “+1 more running”.
The Hours card shows what is running and up to ten recent starters, so the day’s next activity is one tap from the first screen.
Time on an activity linked to an area counts toward that area’s weekly budget.

About Hours day to day.
Only if one of them is set to "Allow concurrent". Meal, Drive and Walk are, to begin with. Starting any other activity stops the other running ones that are not.
No. Pause holds the clock still, and the time spent paused is left out of the entry's length, the day's total and Insights.
Set a "Global auto-stop timer" in Hours settings, or one for a single activity in its editor. A timer that reaches it stops, and the entry ends at the moment the limit was reached, not when you next opened the app.
Not if "Auto-drop short activities" is on. When a timer stops, a run shorter than the limit you chose is deleted. Entries you add with "Add Entry" are always kept.
Each day counts only the part of it that fell on that day, so a night of Sleep is split between the evening it started and the morning it ended.
Yes. The Hours widget shows what is running with a live clock, and pauses, resumes or stops it without opening the app.

Time on activities linked to a life area shows on that area's page against its weekly budget, such as "6.5h / 10h this week".
Every Hours entry appears on the Calendar timeline with its start and end time, and the day's summary chips count your hours.
The Hours card on Today lists your recent activities so you can start one without opening Hours.
While an Hours timer is running, the Focus page notes it under "Also running:".
